We are currently recruiting for a range of seasonal work opportunities hourly and piece rate positions. Our rates of pay begin with the Horticultural Award minimum but many of our jobs provide incentives to earn much more.  

We only work with ethical farming partners who provide the opportunity to achieve the Award wages.  

Dingoblue Backpackers provides safe and clean accommodation, respectful of residents and guests. Daily transport to work is included in our accommodation rates. We have a range of shared dorm, private and twin room options to suit any budget.

About Us

Situated in the heart of Bundaberg Dingo Blue Backpackers provides year-round farm work and second and third year Working holiday visa extension assistance for backpackers. Not a backpacker? That’s ok. We accept applications from Australian citizens, permanent residents, international students as well as working holiday visa holders. 

Accommodation

Year-Round Farm Work

We can arrange work for backpackers with local farms. Work is available year round subject to weather and harvest. All farm jobs are eligible for the the Second and Third Working Holiday Visa. Not a backpacker? That's ok. We accept applications from Australian citizens, permanent residents, international students as well as working holiday visa holders.

Backpacker Lifestyle

Outdoor common areas, a backpacker-only bar with resident DJ, large swimming pool, giant movie screen with the latest movies and sports, BBQ's and a fun & friendly atmosphere. It’s not all about work - you can also play -DingoBlue BASE is Bundaberg’s largest hostel featuring the famous BASE BAR with DJ’s, club, giant pool and outdoor movie screen and epic Thu, Fri and Saturday nights and Sunday sessions.

Our Hostels

Dingo Blue Backpackers consists of two hostels: Dingo BASE and Dingo ONE. We offer dorm and private rooms inclusive of transport and free WIFI.

Dingo BASE

46 Quay Street, Bundaberg

Originally a police station (a few of the rooms were actual jail cells!), Dingo Base is home to the famous Base Bar –  Bundaberg’s only backpacker-only bar! Dingo BASE has rooms ranging from couple/twin to 10-bed air-conditioned dorms, and is equipped with two kitchens, a large walk-in cold room, laundry facilities, multiple common areas, and a pool, bar with resident DJ, large swimming pool and a giant movie screen.

Dingo ONE

11 Burrum Street, Bundaberg

Dorms at the two-storey Dingo ONE hostel range from couple/twin rooms to 4-bed dorms. The hostel is equipped with a large kitchen and dining area, TV room and laundry facilities. All  centrally located in the middle of town.

Working Holiday

If you enjoy the outdoors, harvest work is a great way to experience working in regional Australia. Agricultural work is a great way to supplement your funds and enrich your experience while travelling Australia. Dingo Blue has an on-site Work Manager to assist backpackers in finding farm work. Your room rate includes transport to and from work.

FAQ's

Work is generally available all year-round. Hours vary and work is weather-dependent. Dingo Blue has an on-site Work Manager who arranges farm work opportunities for our backpackers.

If you’re between the ages of 18 to 30 (inclusive) – except for Canadian, French and Irish citizens who can be 18 to 35 (inclusive) and have a passport from an eligible country, you’ll be able to apply for a Working Holiday Visa

Once you arrive in Australia you’ll need to apply for a Tax File Number, Australian superannuation and also open an Australian bank account before commencement of work.

To be eligible for a second year Working Holiday Visa, you must:

  • Have completed three months (88 days) of specified work in regional Australia while on your first Working Holiday Visa
  • Be between the ages of 18-30 (inclusive) at the time of applying
  • Please refer to Australian immigration for more information about working holiday visas.

There are many ways to get to Bundaberg by train, bus car or plane:

Train Operators – Queensland Rail travel or TRANSlink QLD

Airlines- Qantas or Virgin Australia

Bus Operators – Greyhound Australia or Premier Motor Service

Bundaberg is a large regional centre located about 4 hours from Brisbane and close to the coast.

Well serviced with shops, restaurants, bars and two movie cinemas. The region is home to the largest concentration of nesting marine turtles in eastern Australia, plenty of coastal gems, Southern Great Barrier Reef islands, and of course, the iconic Bundaberg Rum Distillery! 

Bundaberg has fruit picking and harvest jobs all year round. Please contact Dingo Blue Backpackers a few weeks before you are thinking you are making a booking to find out more about work availability for the period you are looking to your farm work.
